Baobab powder is made from the fruit of the African baobab – a tree native to the African island of Madagascar and revered as the ‘Tree of Life’. Its fruit is literally bursting with valuable nutrients including vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6 and C (in fact it contains up to 10 times more vitamin C than oranges), fibre, calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, zinc and molybdenum (an element that is present in very small quantities in the human body and is thought to be involved in essential biological processes, such as the development of the nervous system, waste processing in the kidneys and energy production in our cells). Africans have been using baobab to boost their energy levels, treat stomach conditions and skin complaints and African women in particular, regard it is a valuable source of calcium that’s especially beneficial during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.
Baobab powder boasts the delicious flavour combination of grapefruit, vanilla and pear and is absolutely ideal mixed into a large variety of tempting snacks, desserts and drinks, including this baobab body booster smoothie that’ll leave you feeling frivolously fruity and buzzing with energy!
