Skin Detox: Chia

Skin Detox: Chia

Chia is a powerful ingredient for detoxing and renewing both your skin and diet!

Remember, Less is More

When your skin’s misbehaving, the temptation is to throw every product you can at it in hopes that one of them will be a major game-changer. However, in accordance with our philosophy of ‘less is more’, our detox routine incorporates a minimal amount of skincare products and steps. A simple routine helps to boost your skin’s natural healing properties and helps to recover its natural oil and pH balance. Simplicity is at the core of our #OneLoveCleanse taking place January 22-24. This is an opportunity for you to reset your skin while learning how to use our products. Interested in joining? Simply grab our Beauty Resolution Detox and Glow Kit and follow us Instagram for additional information as the dates near.

By adding the superfood chia into our skincare and diets, we can see wonderful health benefits. After adding chia to her diet in 2008 and seeing immediate health benefits, our founder Suzanne decided to incorporate an organic supercritical CO2 chia extract in the Essentials skincare line. Research has shown that the use of chia seed oil on the skin can help to increase skin hydration, alleviate itching and is the richest botanical source of Omega-3 fatty acids found in nature. So cool, right? Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are perfect for protecting, calming and moisturizing the skin. This supercritical chia can be found in Skin Savior Balm, Oh Mega Calming Chia Oil and Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum.

Below we show you how to add this amazing superfood to your diet and your skincare protocol as well as detox tips from OLO’s founder, Suzanne, and our guest experts The Healthy Apple and Lavin Label! All of the products we use can be found in the Beauty Resolution Detox + Glow Kit!

Suzanne’s Tip: I love to sneak chia into my diet by sprinkling the raw seeds on top of salads, yogurt bowls, or mixing into smoothies. A trick for Oh Mega Calming Chia Oil is to lightly cover lips with a drop before you shower. It helps seal in moisture to prevent chapped lips and dryness.

Amie‘s Tip: At each meal, eat whole one-ingredient foods such as healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts and seeds), proteins (beans, legumes, nuts and seeds) and lots of fiber (gluten-free whole grains, fruits and veggies).

Monica‘s Tip: Add positive thinking to your plan and set an intention. When starting a detox plan or embarking on a diet, think about the benefits and not the limitations. Remember that wellness includes the body and the mind. Focus on the positives and write your intention in a journal. Meditate on this positive message and use it as your guide through the New Year.
